Frame shapes, and which faces they flatter

Use this as a starting point, not a rulebook. Bridge fit, temple length, prescription thickness and your colouring all change the answer — which is why we try frames on together rather than sending you to a filter menu.

Round & panto

Suits: Square, angular and strong-jawed faces

Softens hard angles and adds a touch of intellectual, vintage character. A perennial favourite in acetate from Moscot and Oliver Peoples.

Rectangular & square

Suits: Round and fuller faces

Adds definition and structure, visually lengthening the face. Works beautifully in thin metal for a quieter look or bold acetate for presence.

Cat-eye & upswept

Suits: Heart-shaped and oval faces

Lifts the eye line and balances a narrower chin. Ranges from subtle upsweep to full statement silhouette.

Aviator & teardrop

Suits: Oval, square and longer faces

A classic double-bridge metal shape that flatters almost everyone. The default for prescription sunglasses.

Oval & soft rectangle

Suits: Almost every face shape

The safest, most wearable silhouette — ideal for a first pair, a work pair, or anyone who wants their glasses to disappear.

Geometric & hexagonal

Suits: Oval and balanced features

For anyone who wants their eyewear to be the outfit. Hand-finished independent collections do these best.

What buying glasses here actually involves

Wall of designer glasses frames at Style Eyes optical boutique in Burlington

Designer & independent frames

Our wall is curated, not stocked. Alongside recognised names like Ray-Ban, Oakley and Persol, we carry independent houses — DITA, Etnia Barcelona, Moscot, Cutler and Gross, Blackfin — that you will not find in a chain optical in Burlington or Oakville.

  • 15+ designer and independent brands
  • Titanium, handmade acetate and Japanese beta-titanium
  • Sizes and bridge fits for narrow and wide faces alike

Custom lenses, built for your prescription

The frame is half the pair. We design lenses around how you actually use your eyes — screens, driving, reading, sport — using ZEISS, Essilor and Nikon lens technology, with anti-reflective, blue-light-filtering and photochromic options explained in plain language.

  • Single vision, progressive, office and driving designs
  • High-index thinning for stronger prescriptions
  • Anti-reflective, scratch-resistant and photochromic coatings

Precision fitting by a Master Optician

A perfect prescription in a badly fitted frame is still a bad pair of glasses. Farshad Nekoui measures pupil height, vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt on every job, and adjusts your frame in person — before you leave, and any time afterwards.

  • Individual optical centre and height measurements
  • In-house adjustments, nose pads and repairs
  • Complimentary lifetime adjustments on frames bought here

Prescription sunglasses

Polarised, tinted and mirrored prescription lenses in the same designer frames you would buy off the shelf — plus sport and driving tints for the Lakeshore and the QEW.

  • Polarised and gradient prescription tints
  • Maui Jim, Ray-Ban, Oakley and Persol
  • Clip-on and second-pair options

Styling, and honest advice on price

We tell you the complete price — frame, lenses, coatings — before anything is ordered, and we will happily build you a pair that hits a budget rather than pushing the wall's most expensive frame. Most major insurance plans are direct billed.

What decides the price of a pair of glasses

There is no single price for eyewear, and anyone quoting one before seeing your prescription is guessing. Four things move the number — we walk you through all four and quote the complete cost before we order anything.

The frame

Accessible designer labels sit at one end; handmade Italian acetate, Japanese titanium and small-batch independent collections at the other. Materials, hand-finishing and production scale explain most of the gap.

Your prescription

Stronger prescriptions need higher-index material to stay thin and light, and progressive designs cost more than single vision because they are individually surfaced to your measurements.

The lens design

Single vision, office/computer, driving and premium progressive designs each solve a different problem. We match the design to how you use your eyes rather than defaulting to the top tier.

Coatings & treatments

Anti-reflective, scratch resistance, blue-light filtering, photochromic and polarised treatments are each optional. We tell you which ones will genuinely matter for you.

Insurance and payment: we direct bill most major insurance plans, so in many cases you pay only the difference. Bring your plan details and we will check your coverage before you commit to a pair. Need a current prescription first? Our eye exams in Burlington happen on site, so you can choose frames the same day.

Buying glasses in Burlington: your questions

Where can I buy glasses in Burlington?

Style Eyes is an independent optical boutique at 468 Brant St, Unit 1 in downtown Burlington. We carry 15+ designer and independent eyewear brands, cut and fit lenses for every prescription, and every pair is fitted in person by Master Optician Farshad Nekoui.

How much do glasses cost in Burlington?

The final price of a pair of glasses depends on two things: the frame and the lenses. Frames range from accessible designer labels to handmade independent collections, and lenses vary with your prescription, the lens design (single vision, progressive, office) and the coatings you choose. We quote the complete price before we order anything, and we direct bill most major insurance plans.

Do you need a prescription to buy glasses?

Yes, prescription eyewear requires a current prescription. If yours has expired or you have never had an exam, our on-site optometrist can complete a comprehensive eye exam at the same location, so you can choose frames the same day.

Can you use your own frames for new lenses?

In most cases, yes. Bring your frame in and we will assess whether it can safely take new lenses. If the frame is brittle, warped or the shape will compromise your prescription, we will tell you honestly rather than sell you a lens job that will not work.

How long does it take to get new glasses?

Most single vision jobs are ready within about a week, and progressive or specialty lenses typically take a little longer. Rush options are available on many lens designs — ask when you order.

Which frames suit my face shape?

As a general rule, contrast works: angular frames flatter round faces, softer rounded and oval frames flatter square faces, and cat-eye or upswept shapes balance heart-shaped faces. Oval faces suit almost anything. Face shape is only the starting point though — fit at the bridge and temples, your prescription thickness and your colouring matter just as much, which is why we style every pair in person.

Do you have parking near your Brant Street store?

Yes. There is free street and lot parking within a short walk of 468 Brant St in downtown Burlington. We are also an easy drive from Aldershot, Waterdown and Oakville.
