Now Carrying Cutler and Gross in Burlington: Handmade British Eyewear

We are proud to announce that Cutler and Gross is now available at Style Eyes in Downtown Burlington. The legendary British eyewear house — handmade since 1969 — has joined our collection of independent designer frames, and the line is in our showroom now, ready to try on.

A British original since 1969
Cutler and Gross was founded in London in 1969 by two optometrists, Graham Cutler and Tony Gross, who opened a boutique on Knightsbridge Green with a simple idea: eyewear should be designed like fashion, not dispensed like a medical device. That was radical at the time. It made the brand a favourite of artists, musicians, architects and film characters for the next five decades — and it still shapes every collection today.

Handmade, one frame at a time
Every Cutler and Gross frame is made by hand in the brand's own workshop, passing through more than 100 individual steps and the hands of skilled craftspeople before it reaches a case. Frames are cut from premium acetate blocks, tumbled for days to develop a deep natural lustre, and hand-polished rather than lacquered — which is why the surface has a warmth you can feel as soon as you pick one up.
Details that define the house: solid metal rivets and precision hinges, subtle engraved temple patterns, weighted balance so the frame sits without pinching, and colour palettes that lean rich and unexpected instead of safe.

What makes the line special
- Design-led shapes. Bold squares, refined rounds, sculpted cat-eyes and 1970s-inflected aviators, all drawn with real proportion rather than trend-chasing.
- Colour as craft. Layered and translucent acetates, tortoise variations you will not see elsewhere, and metals in gold, titanium and gunmetal.
- Genuinely wearable. Handmade balance and comfortable fit mean these frames suit daily prescription wear, not just a photograph.
- Optical and sun. Both are represented in the line, and every optical frame can be glazed with premium progressive or single-vision lenses.

Who it suits
Cutler and Gross is for the client who wants their eyewear noticed for the right reasons — architects, creatives, professionals and collectors who want something with provenance. If you have been wearing a mainstream designer label and want a frame with a story and a maker behind it, this is the natural next step. It sits beautifully alongside the other independent brands we carry.

Frames like these are meant to be handled. Come in, try the shapes on, feel the weight and the polish, and let Master Optician Farshad Nekoui help you find the one that fits your face and your life. Farshad measures and fits every pair personally — which matters enormously with statement frames, where a millimetre changes everything.

While you are here you can also book a comprehensive eye exam on site, so your new frames start with an up-to-date prescription. See our full range of optical services, or get in touch to arrange a private styling appointment.
